ILOILO – The boatman who disappeared in the rough seas of Carles, Iloilo on Dec. 19 was found dead two days after on the shores of Barangay Dayhagan, Pilar, Capiz.
The 33-year-old Johncel Condello of Gigantes Island, Carles was already in a state of decomposition, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
The body was found around 5 p.m. on Dec. 21.
Condello’s “Chakchak” motorboat capsized in the waters of Sitio Nabunut, Carles due to big waves and strong winds. His two companions – Ricky Bolahado, 18, and Rowel Mahusay 22 – survived.
According to Barangay Dayhagan residents who found Condello’s body, the drowning victim was wearing a pair of black shorts and red sleeveless shirt.
The cadaver was brought to Crispilon Funeral Homes in Pilar, Capiz.
Condello and his companions were supposed to deliver 15 boxes of crushed ice to Nabunut Island. He drifted away after their boat capsized.
Bolahado and Mahusay were rescued by a passing motorboat and turned over to the coastguard./PN
