ILOILO City – Four illegal drug pushing suspects were caught in separate antidrug operations in Mandurriao and Jaro districts on Friday and Saturday.
Operatives also seized more than 60 plastic packs of suspected shabu.
Ronnie Fajardo, 45, of Barangay Tap-oc, Molo and Joebert Amolang, 44, of Barangay San Isidro, Jaro were arrested in Barangay Desamparados, Jaro on Saturday.
Police said the two were suspected “down lines” of the slain drug lord Richard Prevendido. They were detained at the Jaro police station.
Forty sachets of suspected shabu valued at P58,000 were seized from them on top of the big plastic pack of the same substance they sold to undercover officers for P20,000 at around 11:20 a.m., police said.
Fajardo and Amolang were drug surrenderers – those who have turned themselves in to the police at the height of Oplan Double Barrel – said Senior Inspector Kennith Bermejo, chief of the police’s Regional Drug Enforcement Unit.
Bermejo said they have been monitoring the two since December 2017.
“We were watching out for all drug surrenderers. Those who returned to drug pushing were now our targets,” he said.
Citing intelligence information, Bermejo said Fajardo and Amolang got their drug supply from Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao – where Prevendido was from.
“They continued with the drug trade when Prevendido died,” said Bermejo. “They were not high-value targets but they were handling huge amounts of illegal drugs.”
In Barangay Oñate de Leon, Mandurriao, suspected drug peddlers Kenneth Origen, 20, and Dan KC Java were arrested on Friday.
Police said the suspects, both from the same village, sold to undercover officers a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,100 at around 5:31 p.m.
Twenty-four more sachets of the same substance valued at more or less P100,000 were further seized from them, said Chief Inspector Juvy Navales, Mandurriao police chief.
Origen and Java were detained at the Mandurriao police station.
All four suspects were facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
