MANILA – After losing more than half of its members, Ceres Negros FC loaded up its roster for its 2018 campaigns by acquiring four key players led by Philippine Azkals standout Mike Ott.
Ott, the younger brother of Azkals and Ceres Negros mainstay Manuel Ott, was expected to be a huge addition to the Negrense squad for his quickness and ability to pass through defenders.
Prior to playing for Ceres Negros, the Filipino-German saw action for TSV 1860 Munich II from 2012 to 2014 and FC Nurnberg II in Germany from 2014 to 2017. He also played in the Thai league with Angthong FC.
Other newcomers were goalkeeper Toni Doblas and former JP Voltes Marikina stars Sean Kane and Takumi Uesato.
Kane, who was recently called up to play for Azkals in the AFC Cup, was seen to fill the midfielder position while Uesato was expected to help in the offensive end.
“I’m very pleased to have signed with Ceres,” Kane said in an interview posted on the Ceres Negros website. “It’s a great club and a great environment for me to continue to grow as a player.”
“There’s no question Ceres Negros has the best fans in the Philippines. I can’t wait to be a part of it,” he added. “I am looking forward to play in front of the Negrenses in Panaad.”
Team Manager James Dinsay said the four will help the Philippines Football League defending champion as they gear up for multiple tournaments this season./PN
