CENTERPHIL Montessori Silver Knights will represent Western Visayas in the 2018 Breakdown Basketball Invitational (BBI) 17-Under category from March 13 to 17 at Ateneo de Manila University.
Silver Knights earned the right to play in the tournament after defeating Hercor College Junior Jaguars 75-65 in the 1st Governor’s Cup Regional Invitational Championships last month.
Team owner Mark Plagata Palabrica said the squad will be ready for the expected tough challenge posed by teams from Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cagayan De Oro, Cavite, Davao, and Naga.
“We know it won’t be easy since we will face tough teams but we will make sure we are at our best and make Western Visayas proud,” Palabrica said.
Now on its third year, the BBI was one of the fastest growing grassroots basketball leagues in the Philippines.
It will be the tournament’s first time to have national championships for the 12-Under and 17-Under divisions.
“Exciting times await all our first-time attendees as we promise a great tournament where players, coaches and fans will be treated to very competitive games, all for the benefit and exposure of our participants,” said BBI founder Jay Adevoso.
La Salle Greenhills and San Beda High School were the reigning 12-Under and 17-Under titlists, respectively./PN
