ILOILO City – A preemptive evacuation was ordered in an upland village of Dumarao, Capiz due to possible landslides after several days of downpour.
Espiridion Pelaez of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Capiz confirmed the order following reports from its municipal counterpart of Dumarao.
Pelaez said municipal rescuers were ordered to proceed to Barangay Agbatuan, Dumarao to carry out the preemptive evacuation.
The PDRRMO personnel were also on standby and ready to join the operation when necessary.
Proper coordination was also done with the Philippine National Police and the 61st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Spearhead Division.
Alert level 3 was raised in Barangay Agbatuan following a “critical ground movement” monitored by the Dynaslope sensor at 2: 30 p.m. yesterday.
The landslide early warning committee of the community recommended that households at risk be evacuated, Pelaez said.
The PDRRM officer also said bad weather placed seven municipalities and 47 barangays in Capiz under water. (PNA)
