ILOILO City – Mayor Jose Espinosa III has suspended tomorrow’s classes – all levels in both public and private schools.
Students and teachers should be given time to rest after the hectic Dinagyang Festival, he explained.
All the Dinagyang competing tribes in the ati-ati tribes contest are school-based.
Espinosa also said the city government would be cleaning up the city tomorrow and removing all temporary viewing stands erected in five Dinagyang performance areas.
He issued Executive Order No. 09-2018 regarding the suspension of classes on Friday. In previous Dinagyangs, the suspension of classes was announced during the announcement of festival winners (Sunday night).
Acting Iloilo City Schools Division superintendent Clarissa Zamora welcomed the mayor’s decision. It would give students time to reenergize, she said./PN
