ILOILO City – After almost 20 years of serving Bombo Radyo, Henry Lumawag debuts with RMN Iloilo’s primetime program, “Straight to the Point” at 6 a.m. today.

Lumawag teams up with college classmate Novie Guazo in the early morning time slot of RMN.

His tandem with Guazo, who was his predecessor as station manager of Bombo Radyo Iloilo, will be short-lived though as the former will anchor RMN’s early evening program, “Palabra De Honor” aired from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. vice veteran broadcaster and one-time city official Rodel Fullon Agado.

Lumawag was formerly the anchorman of Bombo Radyo’s “Bombohanay Big-time” aired every 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. that rivals Guazo’s program which the latter co-hosts with Regan Arlos. He was recognized by his old radio network as Best Anchorman and Best Station Manager during his time.

Lumawag joined Bombo Radyo with Guazo and another classmate, Emerson Labrillaso, in May 1998. He served the Florete-owned radio network in its Roxas City station as field reporter, Bombo News Center in Makati City as correspondent in the House of Representatives, and its flagship station in Iloilo as primetime anchorman and station manager.

“We welcome Henry with open arms in RMN to further strengthen our aspirations to provide factual and truthful news to the Ilonggos in this challenging era of fake news,” says RMN Iloilo station manager Ronel Sorbito.

For Lumawag, “This is a dream come true as I will be reunited with my brothers,” referring to his old-time acquaintance with the current personnel of RMN.

Lumawag, Guazo, Sorbito, and Labrillaso are all alumni of West Visayas State University – College of Communications and former frontline anchormen of Bombo Radyo Network.

RMN Iloilo continues to serve the radio-loving audience of the locality for decades now and is the current leader in the ratings game in the latest release of Nielsen Survey for 2017.

It has also emerged as the radio station with the most followed and most liked news page in the social media, registering the most number of post engagements daily among all local radio stations in the Visayas.

RMN Iloilo had also trended nationwide twice – first was at the height of the broadcast coverage when the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-identified drug personality Melvin Odicta Sr. was gunned down in Aklan and the second was when it covered Iloilo’s major tourism event, Dinagyang 2018./PN
