BACOLOD City – In order to have an exchange in research and education programs, Councilor Ricardo Tan entered a memorandum of understanding with the representatives of two Taiwanese schools: the Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science and the Far East University Taiwan.
The signing of the memorandum was held Thursday at the gymnasium of Barangay Villamonte.
Dr. Ra-Fu Chen represented the Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science while Chun-Chun Lin, the Far East University Taiwan.
Tan’s office and the two schools agreed to develop and implement academic activities including exchange of students, joint research projects, joint conferences, and joint cultural programs, among others.
The memorandum will take effect for three years, Tan said.
Tan – who chairs the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on cooperatives and livelihood programs – said Bacolodnon students who will have the chance to study abroad will be trained to be “independent.”
He added that they can also work there after graduating.
The councilor said several courses – like information technology and engineering, among others – will be offered to students in six universities in Taiwan that participate in the program called “learn and earn.”/PN
