BACOLOD City – There is a considerable number of provincial government employees, especially those assigned at hospitals, who have yet to receive their salaries since January.

Negros Occidental provincial administrator Lucille Gelvolea told Panay News this yesterday, adding that they are already addressing the matter.

“We are scheduled to meet anytime this week to determine the factors as to why they were not yet given their salaries,” Gelvolea said.

She stressed that they have already sent communications to various executive officers of capitol-run hospitals asking them to furnish a list of the names of their respective personnel who have yet to get their wages.

Gelvolea also said her office has coordinated with the Human Resource Management Division in reviewing all records to determine the exact number of unpaid casual and regular employees in the province.

Gelvolea explained that under the new omnibus rules of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), all government-hired workers – including those who are classified as plantilla casuals – must secure an authenticated appointment with the CSC.

Before given their contracts, newly hired and even renewed employees must submit their requirements to the CSC individually, she added.

“The release of their salaries depends on how fast they can comply with all the requirements needed for their appointments,” Gelvolea said./PN
