BACOLOD City – Police were looking into “persons of interest” in killing and robbing a businesswoman in Sitio Lugway, Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

Senior Inspector Jake Barila, municipal police chief, identified the woman as the 43-year-old resident Sharon Robles.

Nephew Alvin Lacson, 20, found Robles – who sustained multiple stab wounds – around 3:55 a.m. on Sunday, a police report showed.

Lacson sought help and brought his aunt to the Hinigaran Emergency Clinic where attending physician Dr. Jansen Vergara pronounced her “dead on arrival.”

Investigators said three suspects were responsible for killing Robles. They took about P100,000 cash from the businesswoman.

Robles was waiting for a tricycle going to the public market when the suspects cornered her, police said.

Barila said the crime was well planned.

According to the police, Robles is usually driven by her husband Emmanuel or her sons to the public market. That day, however, she opted to ride a passenger tricycle.

Recovered from the crime scene was the knife the suspects used in attacking Robles.

Barila added that they will coordinate with nearby establishments that can give closed-circuit television camera footage that may have captured the attack./PN
