ILOILO City – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Western Visayas and all its District Engineering Offices have started preparing for the observance of Holy Week this year.
DPWH regional director Wenceslao Leaño, Jr. said he has already instructed all District Engineering Offices in the region to reactivate their “Lakbay Alalay” program that will provide emergency assistance and services to the public from March 25 to March 31.
Leaño also directed all district engineers to install motorist assistance centers in strategic areas near tourist destinations to give prompt assistance to the public.
District engineers were also ordered to ensure that national roads are passable at all times. Obstructions must be removed and necessary informative/directional signs must be installed to guide the traveling public, the DPWH has said. (With PIA/PN)
