‘Ensure court personnel are not biased’

BACOLOD City – A local group wants the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Supreme Court (SC) to review court proceedings and make sure that local court personnel are not biased.

Task Force Kasanag national commander John Chiong wrote DOJ head MenardoGuevarraand SC administrator Jose Midas Marquez regarding this concern on April 10.

In his letter, Chiong said a lot of dismissed cases were “obviously manipulated by politicians and moneyed individuals.”

Chiong cited Kerwin Espinosa’s drug case before the DOJ. He said Espinosa has admitted to his crime publicly yet he was not convicted.

“It’s because the judges are under the control of politicians and moneyed individuals,” Chiong said. “How come such cases pass through rigid and legal processes? Are courts no longer administered the way they were before when they amassed the people’s trust?”

Chiong added that they are willing to present “evidences” should the DOJ and the SC require them./PN
