Hearing for Ceneco upgrade set

BACOLOD City – The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will conduct a public hearing on the proposed capital expenditure (capex) for the upgrade of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).

The hearing is scheduled at 10 a.m. on Aug. 16 at the Ceneco main office in this city.

Ceneco general manager Sulpicio Lagarde said the hearing will lay down the “advantages and disadvantages” of the proposed capex amount, which he did not disclose yet.

Lagarde invited all Ceneco member-consumers, power advocacy groups and other stakeholders to attend the hearing.

The capex will be for the upgrade of Ceneco facilities – power posts, electrical wirings and metering devices, among others – aimed at minimizing power interruptions in the areas the electric cooperative covers, Lagarde stressed.

Should anyone oppose the proposed amount for the upgrade, Lagarde said they can submit an opposition letter to the ERC after the public hearing.

Ceneco supplies power to the cities of Silay, Talisay, Bacolod, and Bago and municipalities of Murcia and Salvador Benedicto./PN
