ILOILO City – The official May 13 midterm election ballots for Iloilo and Guimaras are now safety stacked at the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) chosen warehouse in Barangay Lapayon, Leganes, Iloilo.

They arrived on May 4, according to Iloilo election supervisor Atty. Roberto Salazar.

Policemen are guarding EHD Warehouse round the clock.

Security cameras were also installed, added Salazar.

There were around 1.5 million official ballots for Iloilo city and province and these corresponded to the number of registered voters in the two areas.

These would be distributed to various municipal and city treasurers’ offices on or before May 8, said Salazar.

Comelec has tapped courier LBC Express to deliver the ballots.

For Guimaras, the number of ballots should also correspond to its number of registered voters which, in March as Comelec disclosed, reached 119,541.

Salazar also disclosed that the delivery of 2,572 vote counting machines (VCM) and 2,572 voter’s registration verification machines (VRVM) to municipal and city election offices in Iloilo city and province was at 85 to 90 percent already as of yesterday.

LBC Express encountered no problem in the delivery which started on May 2, he said./PN
