Revilla credits acquittal, ads for Senate return

Former Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. says his recent plunder acquittal and political advertisement on television and radio play big roles on his impending return to the Senate.

MANILA – Former Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. said his recent plunder acquittal and political advertisement on television and radio played big roles on his impending return to the Senate.

Revilla on Friday said the voters trusted him again after being acquitted from plunder raps in relation to alleged misuse of his priority development assistance fund when he was still a senator.

He was detained for 4 years for the alleged embezzlement of P224-million.

The Sandiganbayan acquitted him last year after failing to establish a direct link on him with pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles.

Revilla said his “budots” political advertisement did the trick in his Senate return as it went viral on social media and spawned several memes.

“Actually wala naman talaga akong balak sumayaw, talagang pinush lang ako nila Jolo,” he added referring to his son Jolo Revilla.

“Hindi ganun kababaw na tumugtog lang ‘yun, kumbaga may laman from the part of marketing,” he added.

Revilla said he was hopeful the social media bashers will now stop as the midterm elections have concluded. He called for unity among his allies and detractors.

Sana matigil na ‘yun,” he said.

“After 90 days tama na, dapat lahat magtulong-tulong na. Walang dilaw, walang pula, walang puti, sama-sama tayong lahat para sa bayan,” added Revilla. /PN
