MANILA – Marinerong Pilipino Skippers assured itself of a playoffs spot in the 2019 PBA D-League Foundation Cup after a 73-51 trouncing of Asia’s Lashes Tomas Morato at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Eliud Poligrates ignited with five triples to finish with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists.

The Skippers surged to solo first place in the Group A standings with a 4-0 card.
JBoy Solis chipped in 11 points while JR Alabanza tallied nine points and six rebounds.

But despite a playoffs spot, Skippers head coach Yong Garcia said the road has become tougher for them, citing their last two games against IWalk and Centro Escolar University Scorpions.

“Masaya kami, lalo na ‘yung management, na naka-playoffs,” said Garcia. “Kailangan natin paghandaan ‘yung last two games. Mate-test talaga ang team namin laban sa iWalk at CEU.”

James Martinez finished with 13 points on a 3-of-6 shooting clip from threes, while Jeson Delfinado had nine points and four rebounds for the Asia’s Lashes, which dropped to 2-2 card./PN
