OET and UK Tier 2 Visas: Only one test required for both registration and visa purposes

UNITED Kingdom’s (UK) Home Office announced yesterday that doctors, nurses, dentists and midwives applying for Tier 2 (General) visas will no longer need to meet a separate English language requirement where they have done so as part of registering with a healthcare board.

This means that doctors, nurses and midwives who have taken Occupational English Test (OET) will no longer need to take an additional English language test when applying for their visa to work in the UK. Their OET results accepted by the Nursing and Midwifery Council or the General Medical Council will suffice.

The change will apply to all Tier 2 (General) visa applications submitted on or after Oct. 1, 2019.

As the authorized OET Test Venue, ICSEC Iloilo commits to support this great endeavor by carrying out OET’s policies in test administration.  We hope that we will be instrumental in making the healthcare providers’ dreams come true.
