WASHINGTON – Members of the United States (US) Congress have seen a whistleblower complaint against US President Donald Trump which called for his impeachment.

Reports said the complaint refers to a controversial phone call between Trump and the Ukrainian president.

According to notes of the July 25 phone call, Trump asked his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, to look into corruption claims involving the son of Joe Biden – Trump’s possible rival in next year’s presidential election.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Biden accused Trump of “an abuse of power.”

Meanwhile, Trump dismissed the impeachment proceedings as a “hoax” and a “witch-hunt.”

The content of the complaint is still classified but most senior Democrat in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer, has called for its immediate release.(BBC)
