Manila – As he still having a hard time choosing the next Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he might resort to taking over its leadership.
“Even a single case of corruption, wala ka na you’re out. I would rather not appoint anybody for that matter. Ako na ang hahawak nun, I will be the one directing. Guidance and direction lang naman ako e,” he added on Thursday.
That means taking the lead in the “direction and guidance” of the force, he said.
“But that is in the event that I could not find somebody I could trust,” Duterte added.
He said he is still searching for an “honest” police general to take the helm of the police organization.
“Wala pa. Isa din itong mga pulis. Hintay kayo diyan. So many things that the police have to improve on. Unless I see the very best guy there. You show me, tell me, kayong mga police, who is the best to handle the command? Just give me an honest man,” he added.
“Naghahanap pa ako hanggang ngayon. Itong police, maraming problema. Pati generals, ang mga p***** *** nila, kasali sa droga. ‘Yan ang ayaw ko diyan,” Duterte said.
The PNP chief post was vacated after General Oscar Albayalde relinquished his post after he was accused during a Senate investigation of blocking the dismissal of 13 policemen involved in an “irregular” drug raid in Pampanga during his stint as the provincial police chief in 2013./PN
