MANILA – Central Philippine University Golden Lions surged to its second straight win in the 2019 ILOPRISAA Meet Tertiary men’s basketball via an 83-70 win over Western Institute of Technology at the University of San Agustin Gym.
Miguel Sasuman spearheaded the attack again for the Golden Lions with 24 points on Thursday while Elcyd Pascual and Rommel Galves chipped in 16 and 11 markers, respectively.
The defeat dropped the WIT to 1-1 slate with Marvin Cuerbo once again leading the scoring with 15 points. Zaldy Patizar contributed 10 markers.
In the second game, Marvelous Taghap proved to be marvelous. He led Iloilo Doctors College to an 84-81 escape over the University of San Agustin with his game-winning triple.
With both teams knotted at 81-all, Taghap suddenly found himself left by SanAg’s defense in the final minutes of the match as he nailed the go ahead basket from the top corner.
In tertiary women’s basketball, University of San Agustin had a strong debut. It walloped Central Philippine University Golden Lions, 69–62.
Ana Berja waxed hot with 31 points while Leslie Baltazar and Rose Tagala contributed 15 and 10 markers, respectively, for SanAg./PN
