BACOLOD City – Barangay Tangub is not participating in the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) program of the city government for the convenient renewal of business permits and registration of new businesses for 2020.
BOSS kicked off on Jan. 2 at the Bacolod City Government Center or city hall. It will run until Jan. 20.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia issued an executive order mandating barangay captains and other related city government offices to join BOSS at city hall.
But according to Barangay Captain Noli Villarosa in a letter to Leonardia, he would like to “discipline” the owners of illegal businesses that obstruct roads in his village.
One of the requirements for business permit renewal or registration of new business is the barangay clearance. Villarosa said he would first “orient” these business owners before issuing them with barangay clearance.
“Kadamo na gid illegal structures, dapat ma-control ko. Nagalinapta kag nagabinaho pa ang ila basura,” said Villarosa.
Some of these business operators, added Villarosa, acted arrogantly when reprimanded as if they were counting on the support of some backers at city hall.
“Nagasalig sila nga bisan indi sila magkuha barangay clearance pwedi sila matagaan business permit,” said Villarosa.
But Executive Assistant Samuel Montoyo, member of the Anti-Red Tape Act Core Team, urged Leonardia to “discipline” Villarosa for disobeying the executive order.
BOSS is important to the city government’s “ease of doing business” goal or making Bacolod City business-friendly, stressed Montoyo.
BOSS is open Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no noon break.
Business owners who pay their taxes in full between Jan. 2 to Jan. 20 would be given a 10-percent discount./PN
