In a recent press conference held this Wednesday at City Hall, Atty. Jobert Peñaflorida said that the 2020 Dinagyang Festival will feature several improvements, including less “dead air,” more audience participation and more inclusivity.

Ang gina-avoid ta this year, including sa Domingo, no dead air. Wala ad-lib,” Peñaflorida said, explaining that Professor Eric Divinagracia and the organizers of the Dinagyang celebrations are incorporating new features to liven up the opening salvo.

A few items mentioned include 8,000 red and gold flaglets for the audience as well as new plans for the stages to streamline the performances. Furthermore, Peñaflorida also added there are plans to encourage audience participation by making the opening salvo more interactive, and broadcasting the event on the internet.

Ang goal subong ni Professor Divinagracia is to inject audience participation in all the stages. Indi ka lang spectator. Ga-join ka,” Peñaflorida said.

On a more practical note, he also said that the tickets for the event are almost sold out. As of the press conference, Peñaflorida reported that there were only around 200 tickets left.

“As we spoke last week, – ang mga wigit-wigit mga less than 200 out of more than 3,500,” Peñaflorida said.

Moreover, he also added that the business community has been very supportive of this year’s Dinagyang celebrator. Notable sponsors include SM, the Megaworld group of companies, Robinson and various other companies as well as the Department of Tourism and the Provincial Government.
