ILOILO City – Uniwheels clinched the other finals seat in the Jerry P. Treñas Basketball Tournament on Jan. 17 at the Jaro Gymnasium.
A game-winning put back by Mark Ceniza made Uniwheels escape with a 77-75 victory over On D Move (ODM) Sportswear in the “Go big or go home” semifinals match.
The chance to take the lead was rather in ODM’s hands if not of the two misfired free throws by Edward Dixon with the score tied at 75-all and with the time down to 11 seconds.
In the next ball possession, Uniwheels’ Chris Loyola came up short with his inside basket, but Ceniza was at the right place at the right time to score the buzzer-winning put back.
Loyola led the game for the winners with 15 points, while Dixon scored 22 markers in a losing effort for ODM Sportswear.
Uniwheels and J. Cordon Construction-DPWH 2nd District started their championship series showdown on Sunday evening./PN
