THE People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) issued a press statement on ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal and job security of its workers.
“As the preeminent organization of human resources practitioners in the country, strongly supports the promotion of democracy in enterprise management and workers’ right to job security,” the statement read.
Further, PMAP calls on Congress “to do what is right and make an appropriate, fair, and timely decision” on ABS-CBN’s application for the renewal of its broadcasting franchise, taking into consideration “the serious impact this decision will have on the lives of 11,000 workers and their families.”
Job loss can cause severe crises not only for the displaced workers but also for their communities. PMAP is pro-business and pro-people. Hence, we urge our lawmakers to make a just decision that protects jobs and families, it added.
“We stand for democracy. We stand for responsible business practices and the protection of workers,” PMAP stressed./PN
