MANILA – Tokyo-bound gymnast Carlos Yulo and professional street skateboarder Margielyn Didal had their names landed on Forbes Asia’s “30 under 30” list for 2020.
The 20-year-old Yulo had a memorable experience last year as he became the first Filipino to win a gold medal in the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Stuttgart, Germany by ruling the floor exercise competition.
Yulo’s golden performance in that tournament booked him a ticket straight to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He also garnered two gold and five silver medals during the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, which was hosted by the country.
Didal’s domination of the skateboarding events in the SEA Games last year and her remarkable performance in the Asian Games two years ago in Indonesia, meanwhile, were the reasons why she was named as one of Time Magazine’s Most Influential Teens in 2018.
The Cebuana, 20, has also been viewed somewhat as a game changer who has lifted Philippine skateboarding to the public’s consciousness.
