Philippines revises 2019 GDP growth to 6%

MANILA – The Philippines hit its growth target last year after the government revised its calculations using 2018 as base year instead of 2000, official data released Monday showed.

Gross domestic product grew six percent in 2019, the low end of the government’s goal of six to seven percent growth, the Philippine Statistics Authority said.

Last January, the PSA said the country’s GDP grew 5.9 percent.

The growth posted last year was still the lowest in eight years.

Official GDP data for the first quarter will be released on May 7.(ABS-CBN News)
