ILOILO City – A suspected member of the Prevendido drug group was shot to death by motorcycle-riding gunmen on May 23 in Barangay Balabago, Jaro district.
Ricky Jinon, 44, was driving a motorcycle on his way home in Balabago around 7:30 p.m. when attacked.
With multiple gunshot wounds, Jinon died while being rushed to the West Visayas State University Medical Center, said Police Captain Eduardo Siacon, Jaro police chief.
Responding policemen recovered from the crime scene four spent bullet shells of a .45 pistol.
Police intelligence report tagged Jinon a suspected drug pusher connected to the group of drug lord Richard Prevendido who was killed in a shootout with policemen in Barangay Balabago on Sept. 1, 2017.
Illegal drugs, personal grudges, love triangle – these three angles the investigators of Jaro police station are exploring in Jinon’s death.
Jinon figured in a stabbing incident a few years ago in their barangay, said Siacon.
“His family, however, was more inclined to pursue the love triangle angle,” said Siacon.
According to the family, Jinon had a relationship with a married woman from Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.
“We have yet to identify the gunmen. They were wearing helmets and hooded jackets, according to witnesses,” said Siacon./PN
