BACOLOD City – The so-called “Yanson 4” of Vallacar Transit, Inc., the country’s biggest bus company, is questioning the legality of the arrest warrant issued against them.
According to their legal counsel Carlo Joaquin Narvasa, they discovered that the arrest warrant, which the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) attempted to serve to Emily Yanson, Roy Yanson, Ricardo Yanson Jr., and Maria Lourdes Celina Yanson Lopez on May 31 (Sunday), was issued by the court only on June 1 (Monday).
Narvasa said Sunday’s erving of the arrest warrant was “staged” to ensure that no court processes or any relief would be available for his clients, including the posting of bail.
“It was only on Monday, June 1, 2020, when the court of Judge Abraham Bayona of the Municipal Trial Courtin Cities officially released his order dated May 29, 2020 authorizing the release of a warrant,” he said.
Narvasa said they only received the copy of the Order release the Warrant of Arrest on Monday, adding that they have been closely monitoring and was in constant communication with the court.
Earlier, the Yanson 4’s legal team claimed their clients were harassed by the CIDG over the weekend, after the reported release of arrest warrants against them on grave coercion charges.
During the hearing of Yanson 4’s motion to suspend the proceedings and hold abeyance the issuance of the warrant Friday last week, Narvasa said not even the jJudge mentioned about the implementation of any warrant as it was put on hold last March and not implemented considering that said motion was timely filed by the lawyers of the Yanson 4 and had yet to be resolved with finality./PN
