MANILA – Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) coaches will still be forbidden from attending practices of their respective teams.
According to PBA commissioner Willie Marcial, coaching staff of the teams are not needed to be physically in training facilities when the league gives the green light for practices to resume in preparation of the possible return of the 2020 season.
“Baka itong practices wala pang mga coaches. Conditioning lang naman ito,” said Marcial in an interview on the PBA website on Monday.
“Walang scrimmages at walang games. Conditioning lang talaga ang gagawin,” he added.
The league submitted to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases a letter requesting to allow the 12 teams to return to training amid general community quarantine in Metro Manila.
Under the league’s guidelines, only four players, a trainer and a health officer will be allowed by batches inside training facilities.
The 2020 Philippine Cup – PBA’s first tournament this 2020 – was halted last March due to the growing cases of coronavirus disease 2019.
