MANILA – As the country aims to further reopen the economy, Malacañang has announced the lifting of Philippines’ restriction on international travel of its citizens.
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said all non-essential outbound travel of Filipinos would be allowed as approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease.
“Lahat ng travel restriction kaugnay ng mga outbound travel ng mga Pilipino ay inalis na rin po,” Roque said in a virtual press conference on Tuesday.
“Huwag muna tayong tumalon sa tuwa. Bawal pa rin po ang turismo pero ang mangyayari po ay pagbibiyahe meron po tayong mga requirements na dapat ipakita sa ating Bureau of Immigration,” he added.
Among the conditions that traveling individuals must adhere to are adequate travel health insurance to cover rebooking and accommodation expenses, submission of confirmed round-trip tickets for those traveling on tourist visas and execution of a declaration acknowledging the risks involved in traveling.
The country of destination of the traveling individual should also have no existing entry ban on Filipinos, Roque said.
“Upon return to the Philippines, guidelines set by the National Task Force against COVID-19 for returning overseas Filipinos should be observed such as the RT-PCR testing and the mandatory quarantine,” the Palace official noted
Prior to the lifting of the restrictions, Filipinos are not allowed to leave the country unless they are overseas Filipino workers or permanent residents or holders of a student visa in their country of destination./PN
