SAN JOSE, Antique β San Remigio town farmers in this province are grateful to the Department of Agriculture (DA) in Region 6 for providing them farming equipment.
Osorio-I Farmers Association president Norilyn Piano and the members of the Kababaihan Bulig sa Kauswagan, Inc. were thankful for the delivery of two hand tractors with prime movers and implements done by DA-6βs Special Area for Agricultural Development program last June 30.
Piano said the arrival of the hand tractors is timely as rainy season has just set-in on their areas.
βWe will immediately use these hand tractors to prepare our farms for the first cropping season,β she said.
The provision of the hand tractors with implements is one of the priority interventions identified by the two associations from barangays Osorio-I and Lapak during their community needs assessment. These villages produce corn, peanut and upland rice.
Piano assured the DA-6 officials they will take good care of the farming equipment because it will be a big help to their activities.
The hand tractors were part of the 2019 rice production intervention package of the project.
