ILOILO City – With 15 more locally stranded individuals (LSIs) positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) yesterday, Western Visayas’ cases surged to 427.
The region breached the 400 mark on July 8 – 412 cases from July 7’s 395 cases, data from the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 showed.
Of the 15 new cases, only one was from this city – a 22-year-old female (Patient No. 413) from Lapuz district.
The 14 others were from Negros Occidental cities and towns. They were the following:
* 31-year-old male from Bago City (Patient No. 414)
* 33-year-old male from Bago City (Patient No. 415)
* 23-year-old male from Binalbagan (Patient No. 416)
* 36-year-old female from Hinoba-an (Patient No. 417)
* 25-year-old male from Binalbagan (Patient No. 418)
* 21-year-old male from Binalbagan (Patient No. 419)
* 21-year-old male from Himamaylan (Patient No. 420)
* 25-year-old male from Himamalyan (Patient No. 421)
* 24-year-old male from Victorias City (Patient No. 422)
* 35-year-old male from Escalante City (Patient No. 423)
* 20-year-old male from Escalante City (Patient No. 424)
* 32-year-old male from Himamaylan (Patient No. 425)
* 24-year-old male from Himamaylan (Patient No. 426)
* 21-year-old male from Toboso (Patient No. 427)
All these 15 new cases were asymptomatic and being quarantined.
DOH-6 also reported that six more patients recovered, bring the total number of cases that overcame the disease to 159. These were the following:
* 35-year-old male from Balasan, Iloilo (Patient No. 123)
* 24-year-old male from Escalante Negros Occidental (Patient No. 212)
* 26-year-old male from Escalante, Negros Occidental (Patient No. 213)
* 20-year-old male from Escalante City, Negros Occidental (Patient No. 219)
* 16-year-old- male from Dumangas, Iloilo (Patient No. 276)
* 51-year-old male from Nueva Valencia, Guimaras (Patient No. 297)
With 159 recovered patients and 11 deaths, Western Visayas’ active cases stood at 257 as of yesterday.
Here’s the breakdown of the 427 cases – Aklan, six; Antique, 15; Capiz, six; Guimaras, zero; Iloilo province, 41; Negros Occidental, seven; Bacolod City, 11; Iloilo City, 36; and repatriates, 305.
