
MANILA – University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tiger Cubs has netted two more players from Cebu City as the team continued its overhaul for the UAAP Season 83 juniors basketball action next year.
UST head coach Aldin Ayo told Panay News that the Tiger Cubs has secured the commitments of 6-foot-3 Nichole Jay Cabanero and 6-foot-2 Vincent Raymund Escobido II from the Don Bosco Technical College Greywolves.
The one-time NCAA and UAAP champion coach added that he expects both Cabanero and Escobido to be main contributors on offense under Tiger Cubs head coach Jinino Manansala.
“These are talented players plus all of them are coming from the provinces,” Ayo said. “It’s an honor for us to give opportunities to players who come from provinces. We’re going to take good care of them.”
Cabanero and Escobido will join fellow CESAFI standout Leobert Andrew “LA” Casinillo of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles at the revamped Tiger Cubs squad.
The Tiger Cubs has recently scored five talents from Iloilo City in Dave Bagatnan, Cedrick Manzano and Julian Mavrick Puerto of Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix and Rogelle Alvaladejo and Mark Joseph Jayme of Santa Clarita International School Primes./PN
