MANILA – United City Football Club (FC) has secured the services of four more players from Ceres-Negros FC in its serious bid to contend in the 2020 Philippines Football League (PFL) and in the 2020 Asian Football Confederation Cup.
In a series of social media posts on Thursday evening, the United City FC has confirmed the signing of Jose Elmer Porteria, Sean Kane, Jun Badelic, and Ronito Bayan.
This will be the third season of Philippine Azkals mainstay Porteria with the football club after previously suiting up for Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo. He also played for DC United Academy before.
Bayan, a former standout of Arellano University Chiefs and College of St. Benilde Blazers in the NCAA, has also signed up for a new contract with the squad after previously playing for Davao Aguilas.
Another goal keeper for the team was Badelic, who transferred to Ceres-Negros last season after playing for Global FC. Kane also returned to the football club after being part of their back-to-back PFL championship run.
The United City FC had recently signed Azkals veteran Stephan Schrock, who will serve as the team’s captain and one of the assistant coaches.
“We are happy that we were able to assure that the players and staff can participate in the 2020 (Philippines Football League) season. That was the main objective to secure their jobs,” said MMC Sportz Asia CEO Eric Gottschalk.
“We are trying to establish a sustainable professional football club model for the long run with the fans and community at the forefront of everything we do,” he added./PN
