ILOILO City – In just a week of operations across Western Visayas, various police units of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) were able to arrest 237 wanted persons and 81 alleged drug pushers.
The operations – a total of 259 were carried out – were from Oct. 4 to Oct. 11 this year.
Of the 237 wanted persons, 23 belonged to the Top 10 most wanted persons list in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, in the campaign against illegal drugs, 77 of the arrested drug pushers were listed and four were newly identified.
Also, the weeklong drug operations resulted to the confiscation of 269.517 grams of illegal drugs worth P1.8 million. One drug pusher was killed in the person of Owniel Rojo, 29, of LB Zayme Street, Zone 5, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
In the campaign against illegal gambling, PRO-6 was able to conduct 64 operations which resulted in the arrest of 247 persons involved in illegal gambling.
In the campaign against loose firearms, 19 operations resulted to the apprehension of 17 persons.
These operations also resulted in the confiscation of 182 firearms while 20 explosives were surrendered, deposited and recovered.
PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, congratulated all police units in the region.
He said the “Birada Semana” is PRO-6’s initiative to accomplish targets through deliberate and sustained police operations.
“Our police personnel delivered and we have to continue these operations until we are able to neutralize criminals. We need to double our efforts so the lawless elements could not conduct their illegal activities,” Pamuspunsan said./PN
