ILOILO City – For two weeks already, 10 “hotspot” barangays in this city logged a total of 214 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, data from the city government showed.
Barangay North San Jose in Molo district has the most number of cases at 37, based on the Oct. 1 to 15 data of the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) of the City Health Office.
Came in next were barangays Tabuc Suba in Jaro district with 27 cases followed by Bo. Obrero in Lapuz district with 26, Calumpang in Molo district with 24 and San Isidro and Cubay, Jaro with 21 each.
Other barangays in the Top 10 list were Balabago, Jaro with 20 cases; Cuartero, Jaro and Bolilao, Mandurriao with 18 cases each; South Fundidor with 16 cases; Ungka, Jaro and Baldoza, La Paz with 15 cases; and Boulevard, San Juan and Sooc in Arevalo and Hibaoan Sur, Mandurriao with 14 cases each.
On the other hand, the CESU also considered eight barangays as critical for having COVID-19 cases almost daily (Oct. 1 to 15).
These were barangays North San Jose, Molo; Bo. Obrero, Lapuz; Calumpang, Molo; San Isidro, Jaro; South Fundidor; Balabago, Jaro; and Baldoza, La Paz.
Meanwhile, on Oct. 15, the city logged 63 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 from 35 barangays while yesterday, partial number of additional cases as of 12 noon was at 23.
According to the CESU, the city is recording an average of 57 cases per day from Oct. 1 to 15./PN
