Some stuff and another ‘Bikoy’

AT THE height of the onslaught of super typhoon “Rolly” last weekend, while the whole nation was focused on the areas hit and devastated by the super typhoon, mainstream media i.e. GMA, the remnants of ABS-CBN and the Philippine Daily Inquirer, were focused on the dolomite sands along Manila Bay.

It must have been very disappointing for them and the rest of the usual suspects – the three percent noisy minority – that nothing happened to the dolomite sands along Manila Bay despite their fervent prayers that it will all be washed away by super typhoon “Rolly”. Maybe they were praying to the wrong god.

This government works without media coverage or photo ops. Just go to Leni Robredo for your “epal” fix and she will fill your heart’s desire.

If ABS-CBN’s franchise was renewed, do you think we’ll have these “woke”, triggered and feeling activist artista ng bayan? I don’t think so.

Don’t be surprised if next we see on social media, this Sandra Lemonon joins Gabrielaand start yakking about growing her own vegetables to feed abused women.

Nowadays joining or being identified with these New People’s Army (NPA) front organizations, i.e. Gabriela, Bayan, etc., seems to be the latest trendy “fashionable” thing for these out-of-work “celebrities”. It is completely understandable as they are becoming irrelevant, so the pressing need for any form of publicity is an absolute must.

Here’s something I read on Psychology Today and it seems appropriate for all the card-bearing members of Kailangan mag-Tindig Pilipinas: women have the tendency, whether consciously or unconsciously, to tell off their spouse their inadequacies as some sort of forewarnings that if they “play around”, it is not their fault but the spouse’s for failing to “stand up” during the call of duty.

Men wear earrings or body piercing to send a message as a symbol or protest, i.e. to show that they are unconventional, signify if they’re straight (left ear), gay (right ear), both ears they’re “pirates” hehehe, or as a protest against the norms of a conservative society. Or as a fashion statement.

However, nowadays they’re just relegated to being fashion props, especially for those wannabe “artists” trying to be “cool” when they’re not.

And we segue to another “Bikoy” in the making.

For those who were living under a rock, “Bikoy” was the hooded mysterious narrator in a series of videos that were meant to put President Duterte, including his family, in a bad light with the ultimate motive to bring him down.

“Bikoy” eventually came out in a press conference and implicated the usual suspects as the ones behind all that nonsense.

Of course, the stunt failed. It was a dud and fell smack on the face of his supposed handlers and was eventually forgotten, confined to the dustbin of another failed “Oust Duterte” attempt.

Now it seems we have a déjà vu, another “Bikoy”, a poor copycat of an equally poorly thought-of uncreative stunt.

The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict or NTF-ELCAC in a recent press conference (of course, it has to be a presscon, and where else but at the National Press Club) unveiled its “star witness” against the NPA-National Democratic Front (NDF) above-ground front organizations [Gabriela, Bayan, ACT, etc.] and particularly Ella Colmenares Sabino, the sister of celebrity actress Angel Locsin.

This “star witness” is a certain Jeffrey Celiz who claims to have 27 years experience as a member of the NPA. He also claims to be using the alias, “Ka Eric Almendras”.

To most journalists and discerning citizens of “I Am Iloilo City”, the news, or rather the surprise, there was not the revelation of the “star witness” but the witness himself!

This Jeffrey Celiz is a known character in Iloilo City, particularly during the watch of dismissed Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog who, we all know, was implicated by President Duterte to illegal drugs and was dismissed and banned from public office for unexplained wealth.

Jeffrey Celiz was not shy in projecting himself as an activist and a member of the NPA, which is most probably true. It is common knowledge in Iloilo City that he had a falling out with his comrades and he ingratiated himself to politicians, particularly to then Mayor Mabilog, and became an executive assistant.

He became Mayor Mabilog’s spokesman…errrrr…attack dog against enemies, real or imagined. Some also suspected him to be the liaison between the mayor and slain drug lord Melvin Odicta.

When Jeffrey Celiz was implicated in President Duterte’s “drug list”, he disappeared. Now he surfaced after four years as the “star witness of NTF-ELCAC.

Jeffrey Celiz is a very good “salesman” and his only product is himself. He has always managed to sell himself to desperate gullible politicians. After four years of hibernating, he has found another mark.

I’m sure the NTF-ELCAC can do better./PN
