7 Iloilo towns impose LSI timeout

ILOILO – Seven more municipalities in the province are temporarily not accepting locally stranded individuals – Batad, Carles, Oton, Tigbauan, San Joaquin, Janiuay, and Lemery.

The Regional Inter-Agency Task Force (RIATF) approved the moratorium in Resolution No. 96 signed by Department of Interior and Local Government regional director Juan Jovian Engeniero.

Here are the moratorium schedules:

* Batad – Dec. 15 to Jan. 4, 2021

* Carles – Dec. 10 to Jan. 3, 2021

* Oton – Dec. 15 to Jan. 4, 2021

* Tigbauan – Dec. 15 to Jan. 15, 2021

* San Joaquin – Dec. 15 to Jan. 15, 2021

* Janiuay – Dec. 14 to Jan. 1, 2021

* Lemery – Dec. 11 to Dec. 24, 2021

Local government officials of these towns said they needed to decongest their respective quarantine facilities before accepting more returning LSIs.

Other towns with pending moratorium request were Barotac Viejo and Badiangan.

According to Ma. Aletha Nogra of the Regional Task Force for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the moratorium will give a “breathing space” to local government units.

Sa pag-abot sang mga travellers sa holiday season, gina-control naton kay indi naton gusto mag-spread ang COVID-19 after New Year,” Nogra said.

The RIATF earlier approved the request of the towns of Concepcion, Leganes, Estancia, Sara, and Guimbal for a moratorium on LSI arrivals./PN
