
MANILA – Jack Animam had a solid showing as Shih Hsin University Tigers stayed undefeated following a 74-59 victory over University of Taipei in the University Basketball Association at the SHU Gym in Taiwan on Sunday night.
The former National University Lady Bulldogs center tallied double-double 16 points and 12 rebounds along with three assists and three steals as the Tigers improved to a 7-0 slate.
Lin Die led the Tigers with double-double 21 points, 14 rebounds and three steals, and two assists while Li Yinchen added 10 points, five boards, four assists, and three steals.
Unlike in their previous matches, the Tigers created separation from University of Taipei in the second period to establish a 37-25 halftime edge. But their opponents showed some life in the third to trim the deficit to 49-52.
Home team Shih Hsin University, however, went for the kill in the fourth quarter with a 22-point finishing kick.
Wu Caiting ended up with 12 points and four rebounds while Chen Zihua had 10 in the losing cause for the University of Taipei.
Prior to Sunday evening’s game, the Gilas Pilipinas women mainstay also had an impressive outing on Saturday night as Shih Hsin University scored a 105-48 domination over National Taipei University.
The six-foot-two native of Bulacan scattered 14 points on seven-of-nine field goal shooting with 10 rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and two assists in just 17 minutes of action for the Tigers.
Animam also had a great game last Friday with double-double 17 points and 13 rebounds as the Tigers walloped the National Cheng Kung, 114-30.
The league-leading Shih Hsin University will have a lengthy break before plunging back to action on Jan. 21, 2021 where they will face the National Taiwan Normal University./PN
