ILOILO City – This southern city is, after all, getting “enough” supply of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine from British pharmaceutical firm AstraZeneca.
Not 50,000 but 600,000 doses of AZD1222 Vaccine will be for the inoculation of Ilonggos, clarified Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Yesterday afternoon, the mayor signed a finalized tripartite agreement between the city government, AstraZeneca and the national government relative to the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines.
“I was told [the agreement] will cover 600,000 doses good for 300,000 persons,” said Treñas.
The target number of persons for vaccination is 60 percent of the city’s total population of about 474,250.
According to Treñas, the tripartite agreement was reviewed by the City Legal Office.
The vaccines, he said, are projected to arrive in May, at the earliest.
Last week, the mayor signed a confidentiality disclosure agreement with the pharmaceutical company with an earmarked fund of P200 million.
