SAN JOSE, Antique – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is intensifying its satellite registration of voters in preparation for the 2022 national and local polls.
Lawyer Ian Lee Ananoria, Antique election supervisor, said they will be assisting municipal election officers in voters’ registration in the barangays.
The satellite registration, which started last week of February, is a way of reaching out to first-time registrants and those who seek the reactivation of their registration.
“I have asked the municipal election officers to come up with their schedules of the satellite registrations, which I will furnish the media,” said Ananoria.
The Comelec wanted to reach their 400,000 target registrants through satellite registration.
“As of today, the total applications we have received is 3,065,” Ananoria said, adding the figure included those who went through their satellite registration.
“On the average, we are registering 500 registrants every week,” Ananoria said.
This is more than double from the previous 200 registered voters a week before the satellite registration started, he added.
“We just would like the registrants to strictly observe the minimum health protocol such as wearing of face masks and shields during the conduct of the satellite registration in their barangays,” he said. (PNA)
