
JORDAN, Guimaras – This is not the time of slacken the enforcement of health protocols to curb the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), said Vice Gov. John Edward Gando.
He cited the rising cases of COVID-19 in Guimaras.
“Nagapanawagan kita nga sundon gid ang health protocols. Amo lang ‘ni subong ang amon nakita nga remedy para maprotehiran ang kaugalingon, pamilya and komunidad sa COVID-19 pending sa rollout sang vaccination sang gobyerno,” said Gando.
He observed that local government units (LGUs) and the police appeared to have relaxed in their enforcement of health measures.
Gando particularly wanted the wearing of facemask and face shields when people are outside of their homes enforced strictly, and also the observance of physical distancing.
He also urged LGUs and the police to watch out for large or mass gatherings, and disband them.
“Ang social gatherings or pagtilipon or inum ang nag-infect sa pila ka mga pumoluyo, plus ang pag-abot sang locally stranded individuals naton halin sagwa sang region,” said Gando.
As of Tuesday, March 23, cumulative COVID-19 cases in Guimaras hit 382. Of these, 337 already recovered while seven died, leaving the island province with 38 are active cases.
Fourteen of the active cases came from the municipality of Jordan, nine from Sibunag, seven from Nueva Valencia, six from Buenavista and two from San Lorenzo.
Thirty-three of the active cases are in quarantined facilities in the province, three are in hospitals in Iloilo City and two in the quarantine facility in the city./PN
