THE ONCE fledgling eagle had developed strong wings and talons for its daily flights around Western Visayas and beyond.
Panay News has evolved from being a gasping-for-breath “irregular” weekly to being the only real daily in Western Visayas. The arduous climb to success spanning 40 years – counting from the first issue dated April 7, 1981 to this latest issue dated April 7, 2021 – attests to the truth that hard work pays.
One day in the early years of Panay News, founder Danny G. Fajardo asked a newsboy if he was selling Panay News.
“Wala,” the boy shrugged off. “Nasyonal ang ginabakal sang tao.”
In other words, the boy would not sell our local newspaper because readers would rather read the national or Manila-based dailies.
Not anymore. Rather than be discouraged by the newsboy’s reply, our founder took it as a challenge to hurdle.
And now we’re here, being read by people from walks of life./PN
