The Iloilo Provincial Government will purchase vehicles for its board members according to Vice Governor Christine Garin.
She explained that the 13th Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) requested the Office of the Governor in 2019 for funds to buy the vehicles. Two million pesos was allocated for each vehicle. The request included vehicles for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President, Liga Ng Mga Barangay President, and the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) – Iloilo Chapter.
Garin clarified that vehicles will not be given to each board member, but only one per district.
The vehicles are important for the board members, said Garin because they watch over large areas as well as communities in the mountains. The vehicles are planned to arrive by June after the bidding process is done. Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. said that the funds had been given to the 13th SP on his first term as Governor back in 2019.
