
ILOILO – Forty-five household Sitio 2, Barangay Agnaga, Concepcion, in Iloilo were put on lockdown on Saturday, April 1.
A 72-year-old male resident was found positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to the Sara District Hospital.
According to Mayor Raul Banias, the patient had a fever and came to the hospital for a check-up.
As protocol, the patient went through a swab test and was found positive.
An investigation by the Municipal health Office (MHO) revealed that the man had gone to a wedding with family members.
“Two days may isa ka 72 year old male nga na-admit sa Sara because of fever and chills stomach upset and as a matter of hospital protocol gin-swabbed dayun sia and kahapon naggwa ang result nga positive sia. So, immediately we conducted a thorough contact tracing and we found out nga may history travel sia, naka-attend sia sa isa ka kasal,” said Binias.
Around 45 persons from different households had close contact with the patient.
“Nagdangat sa 45 persons ang amon na-contact trace nga may close contact sa patient and the reason why this 43 households ginbutang namon under sa surgical lockdown and we will swabbed them tomorrow.”
The lockdown seeks to limit residents’ mobility while awaiting results.
Banias added that the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) distributed food packs to the quarantined families.
The Mayor reminded residents to avoid social and public gatherings.
“Amo gid ini ang amon ginapanugyan sang masami. Indi anay kita magkadto sa occasions nga madamo nga tawo nga halin sa lain-lain nga lugar. Kag tungod magkinaon sa punsyon ginahukas nila ang masks. Rason nga kon may isa ka carrier sang virus dako ang posibilidad nga maglaton ang Covid. Sa liwat, mag-cooperar gid ang tanan. Ang tanan ginahimo naton nga matapna sa gilayon ang paglapta sining Covid-19 sa aton banwa.”
As of Saturday, May 1, the Iloilo Provincial Health Office recorded 125 total COVID-19 cases, with eight of these active, 166 recovered, and one dead./PN
