Dumangas mayor vs political ally in 2022?

ILOILO – Will 4th District’s Cong. Braeden John Biron challenge his ally Mayor Ronaldo Golez in the 2022 election? Is their political partnership over?

Some residents of Dumangas were wondering after Biron transferred his voter’s registration from Barotac Nuevo town to Dumangas.

Golez, who is eligible for reelection, downplayed the matter.

“The congressman may have other plans,” he said.

Biron is a first-termer congressman.

According to Golez, the Biron family had a house in Barangay Ilaya 2 so “wala gid problema” relative to the congressman’s transfer of voter’s registration.

In fact, he said, Biron discussed this in a previous consultation with Dumangas officials.

As he would still be in the 4th District despite changing his voter’s registration, “wala man problema” if Biron decides to seek reelection as congressman or run as Provincial Board member, added Golez.

Directly addressing the question of a possible clash with Biron for mayor of Dumangas, Golez said “daw wala guro matabo nga bunggoanay.”

Both Golez and Biron belonged to the local political party Abyan Ilonggo formed by former congressman Ferjenel Biron, the incumbent solon’s father.

“If ever nga mag-decide sila nga local ang pagasudlan, gina-istoryahan na sang bilog nga grupo,” Golez said. “Kami (allies) ‘ya willing nga maga-kooperar sa desisyon sang mayoriya.”

But he indicated being open to changes.

Kon madesisyonan nga ako, pasalamatan ta. Kon madesisyonan nga indi ako, okay man gihapon because we are still one as a team and group,” said Golez./PN
