MANILA – Five volleyball players from Western Visayas are set to bolster the Far Eastern University (FEU) Baby Tamaraws in the upcoming University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) boys juniors volleyball competition.
Baby Tamaraws head coach Rjay del Rosario told Panay News on Tuesday that the newly-recruited players addressed what the team lacks in the middle blocker, open, and outside hitter positions.
He identified them as Andrei Delicana, Jhon Stewart Maglay, and Jhan Rey Dongon of Dumangas, Iloilo; Gilmarjun Gadores of Kalibo, Aklan; and Isaiah John Rico of Negros Occidental.
Both 16 years old, Delicana and Dongon are middle blockers with their 6-foot frame, while Maglay is an 18-year-old 5-foot-10 open hitter.
Meanwhile, the 17-year-old Gadores is an open hitter with his 5-foot-10 height, and the 16-year-old Roca is playing the outside hitter position and stands at 6-foot.
“These five will play a key role to the FEU boys volleyball team when the UAAP resumes later this year,” the Dumangas, Iloilo-native del Rosario said.
He added that their arrival was timely following the exit of Benny Martinez, Ranz Wesley Cajolo, Jeek Vincent Dionson, Mark Sabado, and Ariel Cacao.
