ILOILO City – A man was stabbed to death in Zone 5, Mirasol Subdivision, Barangay Nabitasan, La Paz district.
The 59-year-old Johnny Tan died of stab wounds on the chest. His neck was also slashed.
According to the arrested suspects Tammy Banisyo, 18, and cousin, John Paul Dubria, 20, both from Valderrama, Antique, Tan – whom they said was a gay man – failed to pay them for sexual favors.
The two young men were working at the La Paz public market and temporarily residing at a boardinghouse in Barangay Nabitasan near Tan’s house.
The stabbing happened around 7:18 p.m. on Aug. 12 at Tan’s house.
According to Police Major Jose Val Ladublan, La Paz police chief, the young men got mad at Tan for failing to keep his promise of paying each of them P1,500.
“Wala na kami gin bayaran, amo ‘to naakig kami,” Dubria said during a tactical interrogation. “Nagpuli kami kag nagbalik bitbit namon kutsilyo.”
Dubria went on: “Wala kami plano patyon sia, pahugon lang tani namon para bayaran kami pero nagsinabtanay kami kag nakita namon may bitbit man sia nga kutsilyo. Amo ‘to dayon natabo.”
The lads left Tan’s house after the stabbing but alert residents of the barangay caught them.
“They admitted the crime so this case is considered solved,” Ladubalan said.
A murder complaint would be filed against the young men who were detained at the La Paz police station./PN
