ILOILO City – As of yesterday, 71.52 percent of the target beneficiaries in this city and province of Iloilo already received cash aid under the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The percentage translates to 589,416 families consisting of over 1.9 million individuals who received P1,000 each or a maximum of P4,000 per family.

In Iloilo City, 26.79 percent of the target beneficiaries, or 43,933 families composed of 123,679 individuals, have received assistance. The total amount released to them so far was P123,679,000.

The DSWD earlier downloaded P461,744,000 to the city.

Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas appealed for an extension to the cash aid distribution until the end of the month.

According to Terry Gelogo, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), they could not have a large crowd during the distribution due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The distribution of the AICS fund was coursed through the different local government units, which should post on their official websites, social media accounts, and in conspicuous places in the concerned barangays the list of approved beneficiaries, prior to actual distribution./PN
