ILOILO – The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Oton passed a resolution requesting the Iloilo Electric Cooperative 1 (ILECO 1) to reduce its power rate.
The SB members wanted ILECO 1’s current rate of P10.90 per kilowatt hour slashed to P6.45 per kilowatt hour similar to MORE Power Electric Corp. (MORE Power), the power distributor of neighboring Iloilo City.
They are not keen on seeking an expansion of MORE Power’s service to Oton.
“Gina-consider man naton ang pagserbisyo sang ILECO sa aton nga banwa… Pila na ka dekada kag maayo man ang relasyon sang opisyales sang ILECO. Ang aton issue is the rate,” said Vice Mayor Vicente Flores.
He also said there were occasional delays in ILECO 1’s response to consumers’ concerns “but gina-aksyonan man sang aton opisyales sang ILECO.”
The SB is set to send a copy of its resolution – sponsored by SB member Eusebio “Boy” Villavicencio – to ILECO 1’s management.
Oton is one of the 15 towns in the province being supplied by ILECO 1.
Others are San Joaquin, Tigbauan, Tubungan, Miag-ao, Igbaras, and Guimbal in the 1st District; Alimodian, Pavia, San Miguel, Santa Barbara, Leon, and Leganes in the 2nd District and Cabatuan and Maasin in the 3rd District.
ILECO 1 has 170,000 consumers, of which 135,000 are residential./PN
